Thanks for your comment, Cindy. I love what you said about paying compliments. It is so easy to do yet so many people withhold doing it. Stinginess, self-absorption, competition...yes. But I also feel like it might stem from jealousy and envy, too.

I also liked your comment about paying compliments, and totally agree. I read once that a compliment is an act of generosity -- because paying a compliment is an attempt to make the other person feel good about themselves. People who pay compliments tend to be open and generous people who want to bring out the best in others -- at least from my observation. Withholding a compliment, on the other hand, is a form of stinginess. The people I know who don't pay compliments tend to be self-absorbed -- or a little competitive -- too.
