(Why You Should Be) Happy (on) World Menopause Day
Hot flashes. Dryness everywhere. Insomnia. Panic attacks. Brain farts. Hot hot hot flashes. Who me, happy?????
I know, I know.
You’ve either suffered through it, are about to suffer through it or one of the lucky few who breezed through menopause.
I’m there with you.
Things change. And not always for the better. There are THRITY-FOUR - yes, that many - acknowledged symptoms of menopause. And there’s no doubt they can take a toll on your psyche, your moods, your personal and work life, your relationships, your self-esteem.
But I am here to tell you that you will get through it, and emerge a stronger, more resilient, wiser woman.
We are at a magical part of our lives. One where we have earned the right to step out. We know who we are and what we want. We feel free to pursue our passions with abandon. We can say, “If you don’t like me, that’s your loss. If you don’t agree with me, that’s okay, too.”
So, on this day - and every other day, I say to go ahead and celebrate menopause. It’s a rite of passage that earns us a right to live the best part of our lives without fear.
I’ve been writing about menopause for at least a decade, a time before many magazines and websites were ready to go there. But thank goodness menopause is coming out of the shadows - finally! - and being talked about.
Thanks for being part of thePause. We are all in this together, and I love knowing that you are out there!
If you like what you’re reading, don’t keep it a secret!
Until next time, stay well. Stay healthy. Stay safe.
