Thanks for your comment, Cheryl. Very good questions! Serums are lighter than, say, moisturizers, and are usually water-based. By eliminating occlusive ingredients, like thickeners and oils, they're usually better for oily skin. Also, they contain a high concentration of active ingredients - like peptides, antioxidants, and skin brighteners. According to Michelle, "Serums are a delivery system to get concentrated amounts of products into the skin. Serums essentially deliver more action faster. We need a serum if we have a particular skin condition that we are trying to address. Some examples are dehydration (tight, dryness), sensitivity, oiliness, breakouts, etc. Some do multiple things, others just do one. As always, read your ingredient list."
And no, Michelle is not connected to Yonka in any way - but she is a "huge fan" of their products, because: "They have an unreal standard of quality for the ingredients that go into their products, and my experience is that a lot of Yonka products just work well. They do what they are advertised to do. That’s rare in the skincare world. They also subscribe to European standards for organic products which are significantly more stringent than American standards."
Interesting article. Two questions:
1. What does a serum do and why do people need it?
2. I notice a lot of recommendations for Yonka products. Is Michelle connected to the company in any way?
